Durch das erste \u201everlorene Corona-Jahr\u201c wird die Art somit erneut durch die Deutsche Gesellschaft f\u00fcr Herpetologie und Terrarienkunde in den Fokus der \u00d6ffentlichkeit ger\u00fcckt. Als \u201eSieger\u201c geht die Art dadurch jedoch leider nicht hervor, denn ihre Best\u00e4nde gehen in Mitteleuropa st\u00e4ndig weiter zur\u00fcck. Aus einem Reptil das ehemals \u00fcberall in \u00dcbergangs- und Grenzbereichen anzutreffen war, wurde eine bedrohte Art. Durch die leuchtend gr\u00fcne F\u00e4rbung der M\u00e4nnchen in der Paarungszeit ist die Zauneidechse ein recht attraktives Kriechtier. Als Ausweichfl\u00e4chen ihrer ehemals nat\u00fcrlichen Habitate sucht sie sich heute h\u00e4ufig strukturreiche Brachfl\u00e4chen als neues zu Hause aus. In ein schlechtes Licht r\u00fcckt die Art daher immer wieder durch selten erfolgversprechende und teure Umsiedlungsaktionen, wenn gro\u00dfe Bauvorhaben diese Fl\u00e4chen f\u00fcr sich beanspruchen. Die Sicherung, Vergr\u00f6\u00dferung und Vernetzung vorhandener Lebensr\u00e4ume als Eingriffsvermeidungsstrategie ist hier wohl der erfolgversprechendere
